| It’s time to free the North… From small minds with big ideas Who split the country into tiers. It typified what we already knew Westminster doesn’t care about you. Just 3 households at Christmas time While we have parties, cheese and wine. Just how united is this kingdom Gaps in funding, transport and income. Northern Powerhouse rail was just hot air Inequalities in education and healthcare. Thoughts are turning to self-determination The North of England, an independent nation. Hull, Liverpool, Bradford – amongst the poorest in the UK Investments all go south with the taxes that we pay. But despite the leeching from this London vulture The north is a place full of culture. From our music scenes to our football teams And our fucking funny internet memes. Recently the problems have been amplified But there’s always been a North-South divide. From the harrying in 1069 All the way through to modern times. There’s a desire for devolution A recipe for revolution. Bake it up and watch it rise An opposition to Tory lies. History is unfolding The peasants are revolting. England is on the verge of a split The world will learn about Northern grit. A free and fair northern paradise A parliament that represents us will suffice. No more choosing between Oxbridge boys We need a powerful northern voice. The North-East, North-West, Yorkshire and the Humber Three regions with a common cause and growing in number. It’s time to free the North. |
