Beware the Narcissist

Like a vampire that feeds on kindness
The narcissist makes its pleas
And takes advantage of your blindness
Until you have served its needs

While you’re useful, it is loving
But a grotesque monster hides inside
For the narcissist is cunning
And will turn when you don’t abide

The pleasant nature is all a hoax
The love bombing abruptly stops
A wolf in Red Riding Hood’s cloak
The veil of compassion swiftly drops

When gaslighting loses its win-factor
It’ll try besmirching your name
Dismembering your very character
And it is never the one to blame

The narcissist will play the victim
Lie and deceive to control the narrative
You’re unaware of what you’re embroiled in
For the narcissist, being adored is imperative

They disguise themselves as regular people
Burning relationships like arsonists
But in their own heads they’re pure and regal
I warn you now: Beware the narcissist
